Induction Cooktop Not Detecting a Pan? | Oleg Appliance Repair
Check cookware material, size, placement and control conditions before requesting induction cooktop diagnosis.
An induction zone may flash, beep or remain cool when it cannot recognize suitable cookware. The same symptom can also result from a control, sensor or power condition. A few cookware comparisons can provide useful information without opening the appliance.
Confirm that the cookware is induction compatible
A magnet should attach firmly to the flat bottom of the pan. Some cookware has a magnetic base that is smaller than its visible diameter, so compatibility on one zone does not guarantee recognition on every zone.
Compare size, placement and surface contact
- Center the pan over the marked cooking zone.
- Use a flat, clean and dry base.
- Try a known compatible pan on the same zone.
- Try the original pan on another suitable zone.
- Record the symbol or code shown by the controls.
These two comparisons help separate a cookware issue from a zone-specific symptom. Do not heat an empty pan for an extended test.
Check normal control conditions
Confirm the control lock is disabled and moisture is not covering the touch panel. Allow the cooktop to cool if a temperature warning is displayed. After a power interruption, follow the manufacturer instructions for restarting the controls.
When the cooktop needs diagnosis
Arrange induction cooktop service in Charlotte when several known compatible pans are not detected on one zone, codes return or the appliance shuts down. Stop use for cracked glass, smoke, sparking, a burning smell or repeated breaker trips.
Send the full model number, affected zone, pan base diameter, control symbol and results of the cross-zone cookware comparison.
A technician can test cookware sensing, zone electronics, temperature protection and power supply. For a zone that is recognized but does not heat, see cooktop burner checks.
